Verde Guatemala

In stock

Verde Guatemala (often called Indian Green) is a stunning natural marble known for its deep, forest-green hue and dense, web-like black veining. Despite its name, this stone is primarily quarried in Rajasthan, India. It is a serpentine marble, making it harder and more resistant to water than typical white marbles, which contributes to its immense popularity in wet environments.
Appearance and Physical Properties
  • Colour: A lush, dark emerald or forest green base that can range from medium to very dark shades depending on the specific quarry block.
  • Veining: It features a high concentration of dark green and black veins that create a “leafy” or “tropical” texture across the surface. Occasionally, faint white calcite streaks may also appear.
  • Structure: Technically a serpentinite, it is more compact and less porous than many other marbles, providing a sturdy and long-lasting surface.
  • Finish: It is most striking when polished, as this brings out the richness of the green tones and provides a glass-like shine. It is also available in honed (matte) or leathered finishes for a more tactile, organic feel.
Recommended Applications
Because of its unique durability and moisture resistance, Verde Guatemala is a top choice for both practical and decorative uses.
  • Bathrooms and Wet Rooms: It is a premier choice for bathroom wall cladding, walk-in showers, and vanity tops. Its resistance to water makes it more reliable for these areas than lighter marbles.
  • Kitchens: Used frequently for statement islands and splashbacks. It pairs beautifully with dark wood cabinetry or brass fixtures for a “moody luxury” aesthetic.
  • Flooring: Its hardness allows it to be used for interior flooring in high-traffic areas like hallways and commercial lobbies.
  • Pool Surrounds: In some luxury designs, it is used for swimming pool copings and linings to give the water a deep, natural green tint.
