Verde Alpi

In stock

Verde Alpi is a highly coveted natural Italian stone, known for its elegant, intense dark green background that is dynamically intertwined with striking white, light green, and sometimes gold or grey veins. Quarried in the Italian Alps, this unique stone is a form of serpentinite, offering a sophisticated and dramatic appearance that makes it a favourite for luxury interior design.
Appearance and Physical Properties
  • Colour: The primary feature is a deep, rich green base, ranging from emerald to almost black-green tones, providing a strong, natural character.
  • Veining: It is defined by distinctive, web-like patterns of calcite veins in bright white, cream, or lighter green shades. This veining creates a high-contrast, three-dimensional effect, ensuring each slab is a unique natural work of art.
  • Origin: The stone is sourced from quarries located in the Aosta Valley of the Carnic Alps in Northern Italy.
  • Finish: It takes a polished finish exceptionally well, which deepens its colour and enhances its lustre, but is also available in honed (matte), brushed, and other finishes for different aesthetic needs.
  • Durability and Care: Verde Alpi is a compact and durable stone suitable for many indoor applications. However, as a natural stone, it is porous and benefits from regular sealing to protect it from stains and etching, especially when used in kitchens or bathrooms.
Recommended Applications
The bold visual impact of Verde Alpi makes it an excellent choice for creating dramatic focal points and adding character to both residential and commercial spaces.
  • Flooring and Walls: It is widely used for interior flooring and wall cladding, where its unique dark green tone can create a luxurious, contemporary feel. It has been used in prestigious projects globally, including the United Nations Secretariat Building.
  • Kitchen and Bathroom: A popular choice for sophisticated kitchen countertops, stunning waterfall islands, and elegant bathroom vanities and shower surrounds.
  • Architectural Features: The stone is also used for fireplace surrounds, columns, and bespoke furniture pieces, where the unique patterns can be fully showcased. The large slabs are well-suited for bookmatched installations, which create a seamless, mirrored pattern.
