Namibian White

In stock

Namibian White Marble, widely recognized in the stone industry as Rhino White or Bianco Rhino, is a prestigious, ultra-luxurious natural stone quarried from the arid regions of Karibib and Otjiwarongo, Namibia. Renowned for its exceptional purity and luminous quality, this premium marble is a top choice for high-end residential and commercial architecture.
Visual Appearance & Aesthetic
  • Luminous Base: Features a crisp, ultra-white to creamy ivory foundation that instantly brightens interior spaces.
  • Subtle Veining: Showcases delicate, wispy, and linear veins varying in shades of light grey, soft beige, taupe, and pale gold.
  • Onyx-Like Translucency: Possesses a highly uniform crystalline structure that yields a striking translucency often compared to white onyx.
  • Organic Movement: Depending on the cut block, patterns can range from near-uniform, clean fields to gentle, cloud-like veining.
Geological & Technical Profile
Geologically, Rhino White is classified as a dolomitic marble. This means it is rich in calcium and magnesium carbonate, which alters its physical properties compared to standard calcite marbles:
  • Density & Hardness: Significantly denser and harder than traditional white marbles, giving it superior resistance to abrasions.
  • Low Porosity: Boasts a remarkably low water absorption rate (typically between 0.09% and 0.3%), enhancing its natural resistance to deep stains when sealed.
  • Compressive Strength: Highly resilient, measuring between 120 and 180 MPa, making it structurally sound for high-traffic applications.
Primary Applications
Due to its clean look and structural integrity, Rhino White is incredibly versatile:
  • High-End Countertops: Used extensively for elegant kitchen worktops and luxury bathroom vanities.
  • Feature Walls & Cladding: Perfect for book-matched large-scale installations, interior accent walls, and grand fireplaces.
  • Premium Flooring & Stairs: Frequently cut into custom tiles for high-end boutique floors, grand foyers, and striking staircases.
  • Backlit Features: Because of its translucent properties, thin slabs can be backlit with LED panels to emit a warm, ethereal glow.
Maintenance Considerations
While tougher than standard marble, it remains a porous natural stone that requires proper care. It should be protected with a high-quality impregnating sealer annually to avoid etching from acidic liquids like lemon juice or wine. Regular clean up requires nothing more than warm water and a pH-neutral stone cleaner.
