Arabescato marble is a prestigious Italian stone quarried in the Carrara region of Tuscany. Known for its high-contrast aesthetic, it is frequently used as a “statement stone” in luxury residential and commercial projects, it features a crisp, bright white background accented by dramatic, swirling veins in shades of dark grey, charcoal, and occasionally subtle hints of gold or green. The veining typically forms intricate “arabesque” or “island-like” patterns that distinguish it from the more muted, uniform grey of standard Carrara marble. It is technically a brecciated marble, meaning it is composed of fragmented stone pieces naturally cemented together, which creates its unique “broken” veining style.
other Varieties

Arabescato Corchia: Distinguished by rounded, “ovule” veining patterns, giving it a softer, more fluid appearance.

Arabescato Vagli: Characterized by stronger, straighter veins and a slightly warmer white tone.

Arabescato Cervaiole: Quarried at high altitudes, it typically features a very pure white base with balanced, fine grey veining.

Arabescato Orobico: A unique variant that can feature darker backgrounds (grey or even red) with intense swirling patterns.

Technical Properties & Applications
  • Durability: It is a relatively hard marble (Mohs 3–4), making it more resistant to scratches than softer varieties, though it remains sensitive to acids. Due to its porosity (approx. 0.11% to 0.40% water absorption), regular sealing is required to prevent staining Popular for high-visibility applications such as Kitchen & Bathroom: Countertops, backsplashes, and vanity tops. Architectural: Large-scale wall cladding, flooring, and “book-matched” feature walls. Ornamental: Fireplace surrounds, furniture tops, and sculptures.
