Macaubas Quartzite

In stock

Macaubas quartzite is a premium natural stone quarried in the Bahia region of Brazil. It is highly regarded for its marble-like aesthetics combined with a hardness and durability that rivals granite.
Popular VarietiesThe “Macaubas” name typically refers to two distinct colour profiles:
  • White Macaubas: Characterized by a light grey or creamy white background with subtle, linear veining in charcoal, beige, or bluish-green. It is often used as a more durable alternative to Calacatta marble.
  • Azul Macaubas: One of the rarest and most sought-after natural stones, featuring striking celestial blue to violet hues. This unique coloring is caused by the presence of the rare mineral dumortierite.
Key Characteristics (2026 Standards)
  • Extreme Durability: Ranking at approximately 7 on the Mohs scale, it is highly resistant to scratches and abrasions.
  • Heat Resistance: It is exceptionally thermally stable, allowing it to withstand hot pots and pans in kitchen settings without scorching or cracking.
  • Low Porosity: Its dense structure naturally resists moisture and bacteria, though periodic sealing (typically once a year) is recommended to prevent staining from oils or acidic liquids.
  • Versatile Finishes: Most commonly available in a polished finish to highlight intricate veining, but also offered in honedbrushed, or leathered textures for a more matte, understated look.
Common Applications
Due to its luxury status and resilience, Macaubas quartzite is a preferred choice for:
  • Kitchens: High-traffic countertops, waterfall islands, and backsplashes.
  • Bathrooms: Vanity tops and moisture-resistant wall cladding.
  • Feature Elements: Fireplace surrounds, decorative wall panels, and high-end furniture like dining tables.
  • Outdoor Spaces: Suitable for pool surrounds and outdoor kitchens due to its resistance to UV rays and atmospheric agents
