Guido Beige is a high-quality Portuguese limestone specifically known for its delicate aesthetic and clean, uniform appearance. It is a variant of the widely used Moleanos or Fatima limestone types, often selected for projects requiring a subtle, minimalist background. Features a very light beige to cream background. Unlike more fossil-heavy limestones like Jura Beige, Guido Beige is prized for its minimalistic graining and lack of large dark spots or fossils, giving it a soft, “cloudy” texture. It has a fine to medium-grained structure that provides a high degree of colour consistency across large surfaces. Quarried in the central region of Portugal, specifically within the Santarém and Porto de Mós areas, which are world-renowned for beige limestone production.
Technical Properties
- Durability: It is a medium-density stone. While hard-wearing for a limestone, it is best suited for environments where aesthetic uniformity is a priority over heavy-duty industrial wear.
- Maintenance: Being a natural limestone, it is porous and requires sealing to protect against moisture and staining, particularly in high-traffic or wet areas
Guido Beige is a favourite for high-end modern architecture due to its ability to make spaces feel brighter and larger:

- Exterior: Used extensively for facade cladding in luxury residential and commercial buildings.

- Honed: The most popular choice, providing a smooth, matte finish that highlights the stone’s natural creamy tones without any glare.
- Polished: Occasionally used for interior walls to give the stone a subtle sheen and deeper colour saturation.
- Bush-hammered or Sandblasted: Common for exterior walkways to add slip resistance while maintaining the stone’s light colour.
